Mr. Cemil İPEKÇİ
Miss Globe HauteCouture
Miss Globe Organization began to work with Turkish fashion designer Cemil İpekçi in 2004. In Miss Globe competitions, you can obviously see the soul of inspiring self-confidence to woman, dressed in elegant costumes designed by him.
Who is Cemil İpekçi?
Born in Istanbul on the date of 5th August 1948 and known by his ethnic designs, the famous fashion designer Cemil İpekçi graduated from Pattern Department of the "Royal Academy of Art" in 1971. He worked as a stylist on ready-to-wear between 1972 and 1975 and established his own fashion house and started to realize his free designs in his boutique called “Tzagne” in 1975. Cemil İpekçi moved Tzagne to Nis in 1979 and ran two boutiques simultaneously in Istanbul and Nis until 1984.
Haute Couture is his design house that he has perpetuated up to now since his return to the country in 1984!... While all of his designs have the characteristics of Old Anatolian Civilization during previous ten years, İpekçi, surprisingly returned to the modern night fashion with Haute Couture, met his own self again in the 1990’s and thus his transition period during which he had broken his ethnic Works ended in 1992 with "Suzeni".
İpekçi saying "Costume is the fantasy for wearing and dressing" says about fashion: "While dressing, first of all, one should satisfy himself. He should content with himself, not with a person at street, dense crowded or theoretical caretakers of a modern style whose silhouette is drawn. Dressing should have variations and surprises related with how one wakes up, what he feels, sadness and bliss. People decide what they would wear today together or they carry certain colors together from nature to the shop windows. The fashion of the day is the modern name of the self-distrust and it is one of the ways through which one defenses his new style".
İpekçi explains the reason for his return in the 1990’s: "Modern world, not only in fashion, but also in all departments of art, a world making people blind, in which people compete with time, run after many works in very short periods of time and seeing colors and lines with commercial concerns and forced to be increasingly functional is beautiful and meaningful with its history. Specially Anatolia!... To give up Anatolia is madness since it fought with so many civilizations and flourished by means of these civilizations and also it is so depth and inaccessible as well!... I don’t see dressing different from drawing, poem, a Byzantium window and wrought irons of the old Istanbul houses. Art is full of breeziness and memories. If you create an authentic wind on the podiums, I don’t believe that you should determine its direction, position and power as well. The East is beautiful as well as a fairy tale and what am I trying to do is to turn this fairy tale into modern words to express and made people listen to it...??My words are fabrics, colors and lines... My own style for explaining myself with my costumes is a real and elegant bridge that I have tried to establish so far today ".
Black is special for Cemil İpekçi. The famous fashion designer says that black has a different mystery among pearls, beads and eaves, certainly uses this color in his collections. The other complementary elements of the collection are ornaments, beads, appliqués and knots showing the beauty of neck.
Cemil İpekçi, one of the names recognized immediately when talking about fashion in Turkey, is a master with his different designs and colorful collections. Devoted his years to this profession, the successful fashion designer still continues to lead Turkish fashion by his patterns having the characteristics of Ottoman. Mr. İpekçi responses the question about how the beautiful women dress? And says that "First one is shoes’’. Shoes are the necessary factor for the beautiful women. For this reason, very special models designed by young fashion designers may attract great attention in the competitions as well as the best trademarks design the shoes needed by the beauties. These shoes that are highly comfortable with their spikes may be designed specially for the food measure of its candidate. The night dresses are also the most important factors completing the demonstration. The finalist has to carry the dress well. In general, the night dresses are designed by the best stylists and trademarks in the location or the region where the competitions are implemented. Furthermore, the designs of the famous fashion designers are exhibited in the competitions also."
Last year, the French fashion designer known worldwide Christian Lacroix and Turkish fashion designer Cemil İpekçi showed off very special costumes they selected from their own creations during the catwalk performances of the finalists of Miss Globe.
