Miss Globe 1988 Crown and Title Holder The 64th Miss Globe Beauty Pageant was held as the first international contest under the name of ‘Miss Globe International’ in Bodrum, a district affiliated to Muğla province located in southwestern Turkey. The level of participation to the contest, which took part on 28 June 1988, was considerably high. 29 national beauty queens competed in the contest. It was observed that two delegates were sent from Denmark for representing two different regions. The beauties appeared before the jury and the audience at “Halikarnas Open Air Discotheque”, the biggest discotheque of the district visited by a crowd of tourists, and attracted a great deal of attention. The jury deemed Yajaira Cristina Vera Roldán from Venezuela worthy of the title and crown of Miss Globe 1988. Yajaira Cristina Vera Roldán had become the holder of the Miss Venezuela 1988 title and crown in the national contest organized in Venezuela and been entitled to represent her country in that international contest. The Grand Jury deemed the U.S.A. delegate, Miss Francine Swift, worthy of the First Maid of Honor title and honor and the Netherlands delegate, Miss Jacqueline von Staa, worthy of the Second Maid of Honor title and honor. On the other hand, the Greece delegate, Ariadne Mylona, was announced to be the third runner-up. Holding the first international title of Miss Globe, Miss Yajaira Cristina Vera Roldán was born on April 3, 1960 in Caracas, Venezuela. In 1987, it had been decided that she would take place in the Miss Venezuela Beauty Pageant, representing Táchira region. However, the organizing committee made a replacement at the last moment. Together with the replacement, it was announced that Táchira region was going to be represented by Miss Rosalinda Serfaty Rosenstock instead of Miss Yajaira Cristina Vera Roldán. So, Yajaira Cristina Vera Roldán was excluded from the contest. One year later, she was sent to the Miss Universe Beauty Pageant in Taipei, Taiwan as a representative of Miranda, Venezuela without joining any other contest. Upon returning to her country, Miss Yajaira Cristina Vera Roldán participated in Miss Venezuela 1988 Beauty Pageant and succeeded to be elected. In the mid 1990s, Miss Yajaira Cristina Vera Roldán worked as a news presenter for El Observador, the news program of Radyo Caracas Television.
