Karine Berger The 65th Miss Globe Beauty Pageant was held on June 25, 1989 in Foça, a district affiliated to İzmir province located in western Turkey. Beauty queens who had been elected from 35 countries joined the contest. The Grand Jury deemed Miss Karina Berger, the delegate of Sweden, worthy of the Miss Globe 1989 title and crown. Furthermore, the Grand Jury deemed the Venezuela delegate, Miss Eva Lisa Larsdotter Ljung, worthy of the First Maid of Honor title and honor and the Germany delegate, Miss Jasmine Bell, worthy of the Second Maid of Honor title and honor. Among the semi-finalists, there were Teo Ser Lee from Singapore and Angela Yoriko Figueras from Philippines. The contest was presented jointly by Cenk Koray, a famous presenter, and Suna Yıldızoğlu, who had been an Irish citizen but then, acquired Turkey’s citizenship. During the contest, a belly dancer named Nilüfer presented a dance show. Moreover, Coşkun Sabah, a lute player, and Gül Erda took the stage individually and sang their songs. Miss Karina Berger had been the winner of Miss Sweden National Beauty Pageant in 1988. Before joining Miss Globe, she had contested in Miss World 1988 and UK Beauties – London and Miss Universe 1989 Mexico Cancún Beach. She grabbed the chance she had been expecting in the contest organized in 1989 in Foça district of Turkey by Miss Globe International.
