The 66th Miss Globe Beauty Pageant was held on June 14, 1990 in the 5th biggest city of Turkey, Bursa. In Miss Globe Grand Final held at Bursa Kültürpark Open Air Theatre previous night, the Grand Jury granted the Miss Globe 1990 title and crown to Miss Yourmery Alexandra Ortega Sanchez. 

Having contested as the delegate of Venezuela, Miss Yourmery Ortega Sanchez is a 19 year-old senior at the Faculty of Medicine in the capital city, Caracas. Upon the announcement of the results, she said:

 “Oh my God, I can not believe it. If it is a dream, please do not wake me up!”  Then, Miss Sancez went on saying “Turkey is a very beautiful country. I wish I had been born in here. Our people resemble each other very much. We behave warmheartedly and intimately. During the contest, I dithered while passing by the jury. I walked by trying to get over it. Upon the announcement of the results, I was completely shocked. I am very happy for now. I do not know how to express it. Before coming here, I had taken dancing and walking lessons for 6 months. My only goal was to make it. This is the most beautiful event of my life. It is not possible for me to forget the days I have spent here. I am a model in Venezuela. I also work for the education of disabled children.”

Then, the beauty queens of other countries congratulated Miss Yourmery Alexandra Ortega Sanchez.  

Furthermore, in the contest, the delegate of Spain, Miss Maria del Mar Flores, was deemed worthy of the First Maid of Honor title and the delegate of Miss Globe Finland, Miss Tiina Susanna Vierto, was deemed worthy of the Second Maid of Honor title. Having contested as the delegate of Turkey, Gülay Pınarbaşı managed to be ranked in the top 10 list but could not get any other degree.

The Grand Jury granted some special titles as well.
Sandrea Lüffenberge from Australia was granted the title of Miss Intercontinental.
Japrice Bouret from U.S.A. was granted the title of Miss Model of Models.
Düs Toppa from Estonia was granted the title of Tourism Queen. 

The contest was held with the sponsorship of Casino, which is within the structure of RCA Global, and under the auspices of Osmangazi Municipality. Mr. Atilla Kaplakarslan, the president of ‘Vizyon Model Agency’ located in Istanbul, was the director and choreographer of the contest. Live presentation of the contest was provided by TRT Television Station. Guests coming from other countries due to the contest and the Miss Globe national beauty queens were accommodated at the biggest hotel of the city, Almira Hotel, during their 15-day stay in Bursa.

Mr. Suha Özgermi presided over the Grand Jury. Nebila Kaşıkçı, the daughter of the world-famous dollar billionaire Adnan Kaşıkçı, was in the jury as well. Other members of the jury were Mr. Ali Şen, president of Sancak Air, Mr. Coşkun Sabah, a lute player and singer, Mrs. Nazan Saatçi, an actress, Mrs. Nuray Kaplanarslan, an organizer, Mr. Cihangir Gaffari, an Iranian actor, and Mrs. Kristina Haydar, a singer.

In the contest, National Miss Globe delegates first passed by the jury in their national costumes. The delegate of Turkey, Gülay Pınarbaşı, appeared before the jury in her countrywomen costumes. She walked with a water jug in her hand. She was applauded for a long time while coming. In the meantime, while passing by the jury in their national costumes, Miss Globe Mexico 1990 Norma Lugo and Miss Globe USA Japrice Bouret were watched with interest and appreciated by the guests.

After national delegates had passed by in their national costumes, Mrs. Gül Erda took the stage and sang her songs. Once Gül Erda had completed her concert and left the stage, national delegates wore the bikinis and swimsuits produced by the famous Turkish swimsuit manufacturer, Zeki Mayo, and appeared before the jury. Beauty queens were vigorously applauded while they passed by in their bikinis and swimsuits. Afterwards, Mr. Coşkun Sabah and Mrs. Kristina Haydar took the stage one by one and gave a concert. The belly dance performed by Belly Dancer Nilüfer in the middle of the contest was watched with interest.  

At the final stage of the contest, national delegates appeared before the jury in the night dresses prepared by Tailor Sema Evin. It was observed that they were very excited at the final stage of the contest. It was after midnight when presenters returned to the stage for announcing the results. It was 03:00.
