Karin Laasmae from Estonia The 74th Miss Globe International Beauty Pageant was held on July 26, 1998 at Crown Plaza Hotel located in Istanbul, Turkey. The Grand Jury granted the title and crown of Miss Globe 1998 to Miss Karin Laasmae, who had been elected as Miss Estonia 1998 and took part in the contest on behalf of Estonia. Being an 18-year-old girl, Miss Karin Laasmae had the beauty of a swan in the contest with her eye-brightening blond hair and colored eyes. Famous film star, Barbra Bouchet, was included in the jury that selected the new Miss Globe, who was 1.74 long and had the body sizes of 90-60-90. The Grand Jury granted the title and honor of the First Maid of Honor to the delegate of Poland, Miss Ewa Tylecka, the title and honor of the Second Maid of Honor to the delegate of Australia, Kristan Vendy, and the title and honor of the Third Maid of Honor to the delegate of Czech Republic, Miss Kristina Fridvalska. Representing Turkey, Miss Özge Sayman was the forth runner-up. The contest was broadcasted internationally by ATV Television Station. In the contest, which was presented by Cenk Koray and Suna Yıldızoğlu, Gülben Ergen, Selami Şahin and Nükhet Duru as well as the Italian singer D.Massimo Modugno enabled the guests to have pleasant moments with their popular songs. The contest’s guest of honor was Barbra Bouchet. The famous star, who came to Istanbul as a guest of the Contest President Süha Özgermi, was the center of interest with her beauty, elegance and sympathetic attitudes. The choreography of the Miss Globe Beauty Pageant, which beauties from 37 countries participated in, was undertaken by Atilla Kaplakarslan and Nur Doğan. During the night, Sihirli Pabuçlar Ballet School presented a small show.
