Priscilla Meirelles de Almeida
The 79th Miss Globe Beauty Pageant was held on July 26, 2003 Saturday with an excellent show. The contest took place at a sea view hall named Ares Club of Dedeman Hotel in Antalya, which is located in southern Turkey and represents the ancient name of Anatolia.
In the first round of the contest, which was organized under the hosting of the Miss Globe Organization Honorary President Mr. Süha Özgermi, the girls from Lithuania, Brazil, Romania, Moldavia, Kosovo, Russia, Croatia, Finland, Bulgaria, Spain, Ukraine and Hungary were qualified for the final.
In the second round of the contest, the jury presided by a famous Turkish singer named Gönül Yazar granted the title and honor of Miss Globe Beauty Queen to the delegate of Brazil, Princilla Meirelles Almeida. The jury also awarded the costumes worn by Miss Meirelles and Karen Hurfado from Bolivia and announced them to be the Best National Costume.
Having the full name of Priscilla Meirelles Almeida but being known as Priscilla Meirelles, the new Miss Globe Beauty Queen was born on September 5, 1983 in Manaus, Brazil. She is 1.78 tall. Miss Priscilla Meirelles had taken part in the national contest “Miss Globe Brazil 2003” on March 15, 2003 for representing Amazon region and become the holder of the title and honor of Miss Globe Brazil 2003.
The international jury elected Estefanía Gamón Giménez from Spain as the First Runner-Up and Katerina Stepyehkina from Ukraine as the Second Runner-Up. Furthermore, a special title award was granted in the name of peace. It was shared by 21-year-old university student Miss Tezel Karakaş from Turkey and Miss Anastasia Khristaki from Greece.
In the contest, where 73 countries joined, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus was represented by 20-year-old Meryem Deniz Güldüren.
Represented by Mr. Ziya Kürküt and Mrs. Seçkin Piriler, the contest started as the beauty queens presented the national costumes representing their countries.
The Grand Jury comprised of 24 people including Mr. Serdar Denktaş, Vice President and Minister of Tourism of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, and Mr. Ali Şen, Former President of one of the Turkish Football Clubs called Fenerbahçe Football Club.
During the contest, Gönül Yazar, the famous Turkish classical music singer, and İlhan Şeşen took the stage and sang some of their original songs.
